The Trisomy 21 Research Foundation is now recommending additional Vitamin D supplementation in Down syndrome. The new recommended dosage is 1000 IU for children under 6 and 2000 IU for patients 6 years of age and older, beyond what is provided in the Nutrivene-D Daily Supplement. Ginkgo Biloba dosages have also increased to 5.5 mg per kg (2.2 pounds) of body weight and Nutrivene Longvida Curcumin has been added to the protocol at up to 2000 mg per day.

| C-Sections May Increase Risk of Celiac Disease |
According to a new study, babies who were born via cesarean section were almost 80% more likely to develop celiac disease than babies born vaginally. The research, published in the June issue of Pediatrics, compared almost 2,000 children seen at gastrointestinal clinics to children with no gastrointestinal conditions. Researchers suggested that one possible explanation for this increased risk is that babies born via c-section don't pick up the same microbes from their mothers as babies that pass through the vaginal canal. Previous research suggests that flora is different for children born vaginally than by c-section.

We are pleased to announce our association with Dr. Robert Thiel. Dr. Thiel is a nationally recognized researcher, scientist, and board certified naturopath who holds a Ph.D. in nutrition science.
Dr. Thiel conducts lectures for health care professionals on a variety of natural health topics. He has written four books for healthcare professionals including his most recent book, Combining Old and New: Naturopathy for the 21st Century, which is used by many naturopathic schools. He has conducted and published many scientific health studies on Down syndrome, seizure disorder, chronic fatigue syndrome, thyroid issues, and HIV/AIDS.
