Savor this seasonal drink all year round for a significant health benefit

As the summer starts to heat up across the country, a cozy mug of hot cocoa may be the last thing on your mind. However, new research from Pennsylvania State University has revealed a health benefit of this particular beverage that could well make it a staple in your home all year round.

According to a press release from the university, scientists discovered that regularly consuming cocoa could have a substantial impact on the internal inflammation associated with chronic and severe conditions like diabetes – particularly for overweight individuals.

The researchers, led by associate professor Joshua Lambert, determined this by monitoring the health of mice who were fed a diet that was high in fat over the course of 10 weeks. One group of animals under observation also received a cocoa supplement, while the other did not. Upon the conclusion of the study, the scientists noted that the mice that consumed the cocoa exhibited considerably less internal inflammation as a result of the fat-laden foods they ate, leading researchers to determine that overweight humans could also benefit from incorporating more of the substance in their dietary routine.

“There wasn’t as big of an effect on the body weight as we expected, but I was surprised at the dramatic reduction of inflammation and fatty liver disease,” said Lambert of the findings.

The press release states that the amount of cocoa the mice were given in supplement form was comparable to 10 teaspoons a day for humans. Further research is necessary to determine whether this benefit translates for people as well, but this initial discovery could still prove promising for anyone concerned about inflammatory conditions.

Another natural compound that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties is curcumin – the bioactive ingredient in turmeric. Click here to read more information about Nutrivene Longvida Curcumin,
