This isn't just any cup of tea. Green tea boasts a lot of different health benefits that range from aiding in weight management to potentially fighting off certain cancers.

A 2004 study performed on mice found that green tea has an antioxidative effect on the brain that could prevent the cognitive dysfunction associated with aging. Since then, researchers presenting at the International Conference on Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Diseases revealed that adults who drink green tea have a lower risk of dementia than those who don't.

2. It has heart health benefits
According to Harvard Medical School, the consumption of green tea is associated with a lower risk of heart disease. Additionally, a 2011 study from The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that drinking green tea lowered cholesterol in 14 randomized control trials consisting of over 1,000 participants.

3. It has positive effects on oral health
A 2009 study published in the Journal of Periodontology found that drinking more green tea could reduce the symptoms of periodontal disease (gum disease). Not only could it help keep your gums and teeth healthy, a study from Molecular Nutrition & Food Research found that an antioxidant in green tea could fight off oral cancer cells
