Description
Replacing salt with nutritious British wild seaweed was an innovation when Seagreens® introduced The Mineral Salt in 2011 – half the salt and twice the flavour! The Ruby One takes this further still, in a unique blend of 3 aromatic seaweeds with a quarter salt but a naturally salty umami flavour which many liken to ‘smokey bacon’.
The Ruby One contains 75% dried ground Seagreens® native wild seaweeds Dulse (Palmaria palmata) and Winged Kelp (Alaria esculenta), mixed with 25% unrefined natural Dorset sea salt. Nothing added or extracted. Non-allergenic.
Seagreens The Ruby One is certified Organic EU, Organic US, Kosher, and Vegan. This product is Nutritious Food Seaweed (NFS) accredited. NFS requires the quality of certified seaweed in a product to be transparent to consumers, with direct access to its nutritional profile. The total composition of NFS
certified seaweed is monitored and must meet minimum and maximum criteria both for the good stuff (nutrients) and the bad stuff (contaminants), compliant with the most stringent international food safety standards. NFS is more than a quality standard, enabling the sustainable production of world class seaweed for human consumption which gives seaweed producers access to new markets at home and abroad. Rooted in the principles of biodynamic, organic and sustainable farming, with aspects of marine science, botany, nutrition and conservation, NFS has been administered by the Seaweed Health Foundation together with the Biodynamic Association since inception in 2014.
International research has shown the significant correspondence between reduced daily salt intake and reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and stomach cancer (1). A low salt intake of 4-6g daily halved the cancer risk for men versus those using 12-15g a day; in women it was 35% lower (2). 50% wrack seaweed with 50% salt was an antidote in rats fed salt at levels causing heart failure (3). Seaweed is also a good source of iodine which contributes to normal thyroid, nervous system and cognitive function, and normal growth in children.
How to use: Pass the Seagreens®. Sprinkle it on everyday foods instead of salt and to replace salt in baking. Tasty enough to use by itself!
Each bottle contains 55 grams.
